Why Install Solar Panels?
Solar panels have been getting a lot of attention and rightly so. Home energy bills are continuing to rise plus there's increased awareness of solar power systems simply because you might have seen them on the roof of a house somewhere in your suburb. But why should you install solar panels?
Immediate Savings
Who doesn't want to save money? Regardless of the size of the solar energy system installed, homeowners will make immediate savings on monthly energy bills. And the larger the solar panel system installed the greater the financial savings and if homeowners can generate more than what they consume then that energy can bed sold back into the power grid. The rate of pay per kW going back into the grid, known as Feed-In tariffs, is determined by each state government. You can view all the details on our Feed-In tariffs page.
Sunshine
Australia has an abundance of sunshine all year round providing an inexhaustible source for yielding solar power. On average Australia gets 340 sunny days per year with Sydney, for example, getting 20 sunny days per month on average. Sunlight is a basic renewable and sustainable source of energy and but up until the last few decades its not been possible to harness all that power from the sun's rays to provide homes with clean, safe energy.
Environment
We all know that we should decrease dependence on fossil fuels to help improve the environment because without adding pollution back into the environment in the form of green house gases and other toxic by-products. Energy experts calculate that a 1KW solar system effectively removes 1.65 tonnes of harmful carbon from breathable air. This equates to the same amount of carbon emissions produced by a small car running on the road for 9 months per year.
Warranties
Although solar panel systems have the hefty upfront cost, homeowners can get a complete return on the investment over time. Warranties of up to 25 years accompany most solar panels which have a life span of over 40 years.
